It hurts the child, the family, and our community. The mission of the William W. Barnes Children's Advocacy Center is to reduce the trauma of child abuse by providing a safe, child-friendly place where a team of professionals can gather evidence to aid in the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. We also support the child and non-offending parent(s) with mental health treatment for the child and crisis intervention for the parents. The Center is a non-profit organization serving Rogers, Mayes and Craig County families and is comprised of those entities concerned with the well-being and protection of our children. Our Center provides services at no cost to any family referred by Child Welfare (DHS) or Law Enforcement in Rogers, Mayes, and Craig Counties. In response to the problem of child abuse, the Center supports a team approach to the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse. In 2016, the CAC provided services to 357 children through a forensic interview, medical evaluation, mental health treatment, or a combination of these services. We also served 246 families in 2016.
