United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties (UWCGC) proudly partnered once again with Clare Family Fitness (CFF) to double the impact of their annual community fundraiser for local children.

This year, CFF raised $516 and UWCGC matched the donation dollar-for-dollar, creating a total impact of $1,032 for Northern Michigan Alliance for Children (NMAC).

NMAC supports children impacted by abuse while working to prevent future harm through compassionate care, advocacy, and education — helping ensure every child has a voice and the opportunity to be safe, healthy, and happy.

We are proud to support the incredible work being done for children and families in Clare County.

UNITED is the way to a better tomorrow! ❤️

Since 1993, The National Association of Letter Carriers' "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive has grown into the nation's largest 1-day food drive. On the 2nd Saturday of May, the Clare Post Office letter carriers collect non-perishable food items on their routes and donate them to United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties, Our Lady of Hope Parish of Clare, Rosebush REAP, and Stone Soup in Farwell because they know that we are better together!!! We are thankful for their committment to others!

Good morning! Thanks for the shares, the support and the love that we feel from the community for this LOCAL fundraising effort for our LOCAL programs. Funding doesn't always come from Federal or State programs. Funding comes from folks like you and I who care about our friends, family and neighbors. We are getting closer! Only $5,060 until we hit our goal of $25,000!
UNITED is the way!

💔 Imagine being a child and worrying about food before the weekend even begins.

For hundreds of children in Clare and Gladwin Counties, Friday afternoon doesn’t just mean the end of school.

It means wondering:
“Will there be enough food at home until Monday?”

That is why Weekend Backpack Program matters so deeply to each of our local schools and their children.

Every week, children in Beaverton, Gladwin, Clare, Farwell, and Harrison Schools take backpacks home filled with food to help carry them through the weekend.

And right now… we are only **$6,344 away** from reaching our $25,000 goal to keep this program going strong.

These are not numbers on a page.
These are local children.
Local families.
Local struggles happening quietly all around us.

Parents doing everything they can.
Grandparents raising grandchildren.
Families trying to survive rising grocery costs and impossible choices.

No child should have to carry the burden of hunger.

Our community partners truly care about uplifing our kids and are willing to do their part to make that happen. In true hometown spirit, we are matching your donations!

💙 Camp Deer Trails will match the first $5,000 raised by the community.
❤️ United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties will match the next $5,000.

Your donation today can literally help place food into the hands of a hungry child this weekend.

Please help us close this final gap.
Please share this post.
Please give if you are able.

Together, we can remind these children that their community sees them, cares about them, and refuses to let them face hunger alone.

Every Friday afternoon across Clare and Gladwin Counties, hundreds of children leave school carrying more than homework in their backpacks. Some are carrying the uncertainty of not knowing if there will be enough food at home for the weekend.

For many local kids, the meals they receive at school on Friday may be the last reliable meals they have until Monday morning.

That’s why United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties is asking for your help during our 3rd Annual Weekend Backpack Program fundraiser.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 by the end of May to support weekend backpack programs in:
❤️ Beaverton
❤️ Gladwin
❤️ Clare
❤️ Farwell
❤️ Harrison

The best part? Every dollar stays LOCAL and goes directly back to these school programs.

And thanks to generous community partners:
⭐ Camp Deer Trails in Harrison will match the first $5,000 donated
⭐ United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties will match the next $5,000

That means we only need to raise $15,000 as a community to fully reach our goal!

No gift is too small. To a hungry child, even a small donation can mean comfort, nutrition, hope, and knowing their community cares.

Please help us make sure local children do not go hungry over the weekend. ❤️

You can donate online by clicking on this link and where it says "I would like my gift to go to...", please select the" 2026 weekend backpack matching grant" option. It's tax deductible, easy and important!!!

Clare County Food does an outstanding job of supporting those in need, but sometimes, the doers need a little help. If you can spare a few hours to support them, you will not regret the time serving others.

Thanks to all those who work UNITED for others!!!

We are so grateful to the amazing volunteers who helped make our last food distribution a success! Your generosity and dedication truly make a difference for the neighbors we serve.

We’re looking for more helping hands for our next distribution on Saturday, May 2nd as we continue supporting families in our community. With support from the Greater Lansing Food Bank and MidMichigan Community Action Agency, we’re able to reach more neighbors than ever—and it’s all possible because of volunteers like you!
