Alma College Political Science Club

09/06/2018

Our first meeting of the year will be tomorrow (Thursday the 6th) at 8 pm in SAC. I'm sorry that this is so short notice. Please attend if you can. We have some organizational stuff to handle but this meeting shouldn't last too long.

Just a reminder, we will be co-hosting an event tomorrow with Alma College Action and the Alma College Democrats from 2-5 pm in SAC 109. We will be having Mac and Cheese, Voter Registration, and there will be Candidate Information.

I got a chance to check out the Michigan Republican Party's "Results Not Resistance" bus tour yesterday when they stopped in Clare, MI at Cops and Donuts! Isn't the bus cool? Right in our backyard! The midterms are certainly heating up!

As a reminder, on Friday, we will be co-hosting a voter registration event with Alma College Action and the Alma College Democrats from 2-5 pm. Please try to make it there if you can.

08/23/2018

We will be working with Alma College Action and the Alma College Democrats to host an event during orientation week on August 31st from 2-5 pm. There will be mac and cheese, voter registration, and information on candidates running in the midterms.

I hope that you have all had a great summer vacation. We have about two weeks until the start of the new school year. With the midterm elections coming up, this fall semester will be quite a busy one for sure.

Six of our members went to the annual Midwest Political Science Conference in Chicago. Luke Ashton and Jeremy Johnson both presented posters at the conference talking about Flemish Secessionism, as well as research predicting Brexit-style referendums in other European States. Congrats!

A message from our supreme leader as sent through the interwebs and the magnificent land of email: (please fill out the when is good if you haven't done so already)

Hey Political Science wonks!

It's time to start meeting again! There is a "when is good" link below. Please select times that you are available to meet. This is in general, so ignore the specific dates. With this, we will have a meeting next week and most likely keep the bi-weekly meeting going (unless there is a motion to change this).

Hope you all had a wonderful break, and welcome back to Alma!

Slàinte!

Luke Ashton
