On Monday, June 22, I am teaming up with AAA East Central and the Allegheny County Police to host a free Hard-to-Read License Plate event.

Visit the South Park Museum Building, 2100 Brownsville Road, South Park, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

If the license plate is determined to be illegible, paperwork will be completed for free. Each participant needs to bring their driver’s license and vehicle registration. The new plate should arrive in a few weeks to the vehicle owner’s home address.

According to PennDOT, a registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.

Anyone with further questions can contact my district office at 412-382-2009.

Today was the annual Zoo Day at the Capitol. Animal ambassadors from zoos, aquariums and aviaries across the Commonwealth were in Harrisburg to educate, inspire and advocate.

I caught up with, pictured from left, Chris Petrone, Allegheny Strategy Partners; and Ron Gruca, chief advancement officer with the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium.

Scouts from across Pennsylvania gathered in the Main Rotunda of the Pennsylvania State Capitol on Monday for the annual Scouting America’s Report to the Commonwealth event.

During the visit, scouts had the opportunity to meet with state legislators, tour the House and Senate chambers, and share highlights of scouting's impact and activities throughout the Commonwealth.

Events like these help Scouts develop leadership, citizenship and a deeper understanding of how government works while showcasing the positive contributions Scouts make in their communities every day.

It was great to catch up with Mitchell Horhut, a cub scout from Cub Scout Pack 562 - West Jefferson Hills, and his parents, Jaime and Steven, along with his sister, Paige.

It was great to witness Jefferson Hills Intermediate School students in the West Jefferson Hills School District riding Don Withers' bus sing the National Anthem on the last day of school.

Watch ‡️

Every Friday, students on one Western Pennsylvania school bus sang the National Anthem together. On the last day of school, they gave their driver and a crossing guard a summer sendoff to remember.
