In recognition of EMS Week, we want to take a moment to thank all EMS professionals for the dedication, compassion, and skill they bring to every call.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the importance of the entire system that supports EMS. From dispatchers who answer the call, to nurses, physicians, and all healthcare partners in between every role is essential in delivering timely, effective patient care.

Today, crews were called to assist Kailu, the Horse we assisted getting up a few weeks ago. Kailu was down in his stall and couldn’t get up on his own. With the assistance of Scioto Valley Wrecker Service and the owners of Kailu, crews were able to get the horse safely out into the open arena. The horse was extremely weak from trying to get up. Crews were unfortunately unable to get the horse to stand. But a positive outcome happened, crews received a call from the owner who said Kailu eventually got up under his own power and was doing good after being checked by a veterinarian. Crews did return to see Kailu before he was transferred to the owners other property.
