It's that time of year again for the annual Pickaway County Reserve Deputy Association, Inc. golf outing. The Reserve Deputy Association raises money to benefit our community though programs such as Shop with a Cop, community trick or treat events, providing scholarships to local high school graduates pursuing a career in law enforcement and much more. National Police Week 2026 runs from May 10th through May 16th.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy established National Police Week to honor law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Today, nearly 750,000 police officers across the United States put on the uniform each day to serve and protect their communities.

Throughout this week, we honor the fallen heroes who gave their lives in service, while also recognizing the courageous men and women who continue to protect and serve day in and day out.

Thank you to all law enforcement officers for your dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with our public safety partners Circleville Police Department, Pickaway County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, The Circleville Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio School Safety Center will be conducting a drill this morning on the campus of the Circleville City School District and Ohio Christian University. You will see a large presence of first responders but there is no reason for alarm. This exercise is being conducted so that should there be an actual emergency, first responders, school staff, and students will be ready.

On Monday morning, you may see a lot of emergency response presence, buses, and people walking close to Circleville City Schools. There is no emergency. It is important for our schools to practice so they know what to do if they ever do need to act.
