I wish I was making a more positive post today. As we head into the summer months, our parks, playgrounds, and public spaces should be places where families gather, children play, and neighbors enjoy everything that makes Circleville a great community. Unfortunately, I need to talk about something that continues to concern me.
Over the past several years, the City has invested significant time, effort, and taxpayer dollars into improving our parks and public facilities. These investments were made for the benefit of the entire community. Yet we continue to see vandalism, destruction of property, and damage to facilities that belong to all of us.
To be honest, it is discouraging. Every time something is damaged, city crews must spend time making repairs, and taxpayer dollars must be spent replacing what was destroyed. Those are resources that could otherwise be used to improve services, enhance our parks, or invest in other community needs. The reality is that the City does not have an unlimited budget.
That is why I am asking for your help. If you see vandalism, suspicious activity, or damage being done to public property, please say something. Contact the Circleville Police Department or the Department of Public Service. The eyes and ears of our community are one of the most effective ways to protect these spaces.
Circleville is a community that takes pride in itself. These parks and facilities belong to all of us, and it takes all of us to protect them. Together, we can ensure they remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for generations to come.
