Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District

Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District Providing fire and EMS services to the citizens of the City of Deer Park, the Villages of Silverton, Golf Manor and Columbia Township

The Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District protects over 14,000 people living in an area of 4 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area, with some retail and light industry. Our department is a public department staffed by a combination of full-time and part-time employees. We have an ISO rating of 3. We provide the following services to our residents: s

tructural and wildland fire suppression; ALS and BLS transport services; fire prevention programs; and operational level hazmat and rescue response. The Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District is located on the northeast side of Hamilton County, Ohio. The City of Deer Park and the Village of Silverton are suburbs of metropolitan Cincinnati, comprising the bulk of the fire district. We also provide fire and EMS services to Columbia Township and the Village of Golf Manor. Our district contains many unique hazards as part of our response area. In our own first-due area, we are responsible for Interstate 71, US 22/OH 3 (a state and federal highway), a CSX rail line, a large tank farm for the storage of ethyl alcohol, four schools, and three residential institutions. All of the residential institutions have specialized units for the care of patients suffering from memory issues such as Alzheimer’s or dementia, which pose challenges to emergency responders in the event of fire or other disaster. Our automatic aid response area includes a major hospital, an FBI field office, an industrial gas service which provides compressed gasses for industry and bioscience, two large malls, and numerous “big box” stores. Our department is actively involved in regional collaboration with 10 other fire departments through the East Chiefs Work Group, a subdivision of the Hamilton County Fire Chiefs Association. Through this group, we are working towards standardizing responses to emergencies, implementing best practices, and sharing the costs of fire and EMS training. The department consists of 14 full-time Firefighter/Paramedics and 1 full-time fire district clerk. The full-time staff is supplemented 25 part-time Firefighter/EMT/Medics.

Thanks to everyone that came out to see us yesterday. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, but we would have liked to see a little more of Medic 89. They were out on calls most of the day.
