Move Over: It's the Law
In 19 states and Washington, DC, laws include moving over for all vehicles with flashing or hazard lights, such as: law enforcement, EMS, fire, highway maintenance, construction, utility, trash, and disabled vehicles.

When a vehicle with flashing lights is stopped on or next to a roadway, drivers approaching the vehicle should:

change into a lane not immediately adjacent to the vehicle, or
slow down to a reasonable speed if you’re unable to safely make a lane change.

This morning Springdale FD hosted the District 8 Ohio Traffic Incident Management Ohio Traffic Incident Management (OTIM) meeting! This is a first of it's kind here. OTIM is the state’s traffic incident management program comprised of several agencies, including ODOT, local and state law enforcement agencies, Fire, EMA, and towing and recovery services.

These agencies work together in a partnership under the unified command structure to safely and efficiently clear traffic incidents on Ohio roadways.

Traffic Incident Management is the process of coordinating resources to detect, respond to, and clear traffic incidents as safely and quickly as possible to reduce the impacts of crashes and congestion.

Happy Tuesday! Spring storms are inevitable. ⛈️

Was there a point during last nights storm you may have felt you should be more ready for disaster situations?

If the power goes out, do you know where a flash light is in your house. Can you locate it easily in the dark? Is there one for each family member?

If you need access to non-perishable food, what do you currently have stocked? If in cans are they pop-top cans or do you need a can opener?

What about water? Do you have access to clean water?

A stocked first aid kit? Medicine? Extra blankets?

Most importantly a family plan?

These are only a few things to consider. Each year it is important to talk about the possibilities in certain situations:

Fire: 2 ways out, meeting place in the front yard. How to deal with calling 9-1-1

Weather emergencies: Shelter area of the house (depending on the weather), where all supplies are located (a central area is ideal)

See the Red Cross link below that will aid in getting some wheels turning in your mind about what to consider BEFORE these situations occur!

Make a plan so your entire family is prepared in the event of an emergency or disaster. The Red Cross can help you make an Emergency Preparedness Plan.
