Sportsmanship in the NICU

Every player has a role. Some score, some defend, some protect the net, and others create opportunities that may never appear on the scoreboard. Success isn't about one player—it's about trusting one another and working toward the same goal.

The same is true in neonatal care.

Caring for medically complex and preterm babies requires an entire team. Neonatal therapists bring specialized expertise, but our greatest impact happens when we collaborate with nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, social workers, and—most importantly—families.

No single person determines the outcome. Every observation, every conversation, and every contribution have the potential to positively influence a lifetime.

True teamwork means recognizing the strengths each person brings, being willing to learn from one another, supporting colleagues through challenges, and celebrating progress together—even when that progress comes in the smallest of steps.

In the NICU, sportsmanship isn't about who gets the credit. It's about showing up with humility, respect, and a shared commitment to giving every baby the strongest possible start.

🌟 Let's celebrate all neonatal nurses! 🌟

This week is dedicated to honoring the neonatal nurses who continue to give their all for babies and families in the NICU.

Every day we witness your skill, compassion, and teamwork. You are essential in giving our tiniest patients the best possible start.

Neonatal nurses and therapists work side by side, combining their unique expertise to provide the best possible support for babies and their families.

💙 Thank you for the heart, expertise, and care you bring to the NICU.

Today we honor and remember the lives lost, bravery shown and unity that carried us through.

From the sacrifice and strength of those who ran toward danger and the lives lost, to those who stepped forward to protect selflessly.

Never forget. 💙🤍❤️

🌍 Neonatal therapy may look a little different around the world, but so many of the challenges we face are the same.

How do you build a neonatal therapy program? Grow your services? Build strong relationships within your NICU team? And how do you keep moving forward when the path looks different in every healthcare system?

During International Neonatal Therapy Week, we're bringing two neonatal therapists from different parts of the world together to talk about exactly that.

Join Christy Gliniak, PhD, OTR/L, CNT, and Susana Trallero, PT, PhD Candidate, from Barcelona, Spain, for NANT's first International Community Meetup on September 23.

Susana will share her experiences advancing neonatal therapy in Spain, while Christy will offer perspectives shaped by her U.S. practice and global collaborations. There will be plenty of room for questions and conversation along the way.

Whether you're new to neonatal therapy or have been doing this work for years, we'd love to have you join us.
