Every baby deserves to celebrate their first birthday — and every family deserves the support to get there.

Two years ago, Hamilton County reached its lowest infant mortality rate on record, proof that when our community comes together in support of moms and babies, we can make a difference. Since then, our infant mortality rate has increased, with Hamilton County losing 89 babies in 2025. Behind every number is a baby whose life was lost and a family forever changed.

This is a community-wide issue that requires a community-wide response.

This Infant Mortality Awareness Month, we’re asking you to join us in turning this story around. Whether that’s helping women access prenatal care, a doula and community health worker; advocating for policies that support families; or simply showing up for the mothers in our lives — everyone has a role to play. These actions build on one another.

✨ We're growing our team.

Queens Village is hiring a Queens Village Navigator to join our team at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) – Center for Women's Health.

In this community-embedded role, you'll help lead Queens Village Corner—our welcoming space within UCMC that connects Black birthing families to culturally centered support, trusted resources, and Queens Village programming.

You'll bridge clinical prenatal care and community support by building trusted relationships, strengthening referral pathways, and connecting families to wrap-around resources throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

If you're passionate about community, relationship-building, and advancing birth equity, we'd love to hear from you.

Healthier outcomes for moms and babies start with listening.

Earlier this week, we partnered with bi3 and Queens Village Cincinnati to bring together moms, elected officials and healthcare leaders for a conversation about what families need to thrive.

Thank you to our panelists — Micah Macklin, India Cole, Jocqulene Pressley, and Myla Perry — for sharing their stories and perspectives, from the challenges they faced during pregnancy and postpartum to the resources and support that helped them most.

For the policymakers and healthcare leaders in the room, this was an opportunity to hear directly from families in the communities they serve.

We’re grateful to bi3 Fund and everyone who joined us — thank you for showing up for Hamilton County families.

This conversation was just the beginning. We look forward to creating more spaces to connect, listen and inform action.

Safe sleep is one of the most important things families can do for their baby.

Here’s our safe advice: Babies always need their own space to sleep — in a crib, bassinet, or pack-and-play.

You can always place your baby’s bed next to yours so you can keep an eye on them.

We're here to support you at CradleCincinnati.org/safe-sleep.

We're grateful to share that Pampers has extended its support of Cradle Cincinnati with a renewed investment in our work.

Their longstanding commitment has helped sustain Queens Village Cincinnati's Mama's Blessing, our signature bi-annual event that celebrates and surrounds Black moms-to-be with care, community and support.

This continued investment strengthens our ability to serve families, build community, and move our mission forward. We are deeply grateful for Pampers’ partnership and their belief in the importance of this work.

Thank you for continuing to stand alongside us.
