Over the course of two weeks, Connor and Noemi have laid out their vision of ideas for how they intend to Build A UC that works... for YOU!

Connor+Noemi recognize this work is not easy and some of these issues are not new which is why for the last platform on our feed, we want to highlight the vision for Campus History.

History indeed has its eyes on us and Connor +Noemi intend to rise up to meet the challenges head on.

Service should be an integral part of every student's experience at UC. That's why Noemi and Connor will work with the UC Learning Commons to expand the Better Place Project so that eventually all freshmen at UC participate in meaningful and lasting service.

This will also strengthen our institutional ties with local nonprofits and other organizations in our surrounding community. However for any of this to be a reality, you need to vote.

Y’all thought we done?? Nooo SIR. We got another platform point.

We have a NEXT building for research and we have one for industry, yet, in spite of our historic ties to Cincy politics and service, we don't have one for civic engagement. Our proposal for the YMCA seeks to rectify that.
-
We think students interested in the community that surrounds campus, both in politics, advocacy, and community service, would benefit greatly from a Center for Civic Excellence that operates on our campus similarly to the Institute of Politics on Harvard and UChicago's campuses.
-
That means more jobs in Cincy politics and government for UC students. That means more opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary discussions about the future of community. That means a return to the University as a center for community.

UC has an undeniable impact on the community surrounding it. The mission of the university is to expand the student population as fast as possible, which means that it will be buying buildings in surrounding areas to expand campus outward.

Connor and Noemi intend to push for local communities to be brought into the conversation when UC investment is discussed. It's imperative that members of these local communities have a say in our development strategies to ensure sustainable growth.

Local business also need support from our campus - Connor and Noemi also want to expand the use of the Bearcat Cash program to increase the university's investment in our surrounding areas.

Connor and Noemi are both in non-BSTEMD fields, and have experienced first-hand how hard it is to find a paid internship that relates to their interests. Anyone attending the UC Career Fairs is met by a complete lack of employment opportunities geared for students who are not in business, science, technology, engineering, math, or design.

The University of Cincinnati has strong programs in areas like English, Political Science, and more - so why is it still sending the message that there are "no jobs" for these fields or that they are "useless"? The reality is that there are plenty of fulfilling co-op and internship opportunities out there for these students - we just need to bring them to campus!

The College of Arts and Sciences encompasses the largest population of undergraduate majors on campus. We need to expand the conversation around Bearcat Promise and Co-Op 2.0 to make students in non BSTEMD fields feel welcome at career events and services.

Connor and Noemi will prioritize increasing investment in services like the Bearcat Promise Career Studio, Pre-Professional Advising Center, and Experiential Learning Center with the promise that they will bring more PAID non-BSTEMD internships and co-ops to campus.
