National Library Week is a celebration of everything a library makes possible. That includes conversations you don’t forget.

Through the Mary S. Stern Lecture Series, the Library brings some of the world’s most compelling authors and thinkers to Cincinnati. These events create space for big ideas, meaningful dialogue, and shared experiences across our community. For many, it’s a chance to hear directly from voices they’ve only encountered on the page. For others, it’s an introduction to new perspectives that stay with them long after the event ends.

Programs like this happen because people choose to support the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library.

If you believe Cincinnati should continue to have access to ideas and conversations like these, consider making a gift: https://supportchpl.org/donate-monthly/

Today’s the day!

Support the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library on our Library Giving Day and help fund programs that enrich our community.

It’s also World Book Day: a celebration of stories, readers and the power of books to change lives. From a child discovering their first favorite story to a lifelong learner exploring something new, books open doors every single day. And behind every great book discovery is a library worker who helped someone find exactly what they needed.

Take a moment to honor a library staff member who’s made a difference for you. Tag them, share your story, and celebrate the role they play in building a community of readers.

Give in their honor today: https://supportchpl.org/donate-monthly/

Your gift powers Storytime sessions, Summer Reading, Homework Help and MakerSpace, ensuring that when a child asks for help, someone is there to say yes.

Every contribution, large or small, helps sustain free books, technology and resources across Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

Only one day to go for Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library's Library Giving Day!

Last year, your library saw 19.4 million items borrowed and 4.3 million visits to our branches. Donors funded 12,120 Homework Help sessions and 27,508 MakerSpace equipment uses. Imagine what we can achieve together this year!

Your generosity also put 41,427 free books into the hands of kids and teens and drew nearly 30,000 children into Summer Reading. Each gift keeps storytimes, Summer Reading programs, Homework Helpers and MakerSpaces free and available to all, ensuring that every child has the tools to succeed.

What connects you to your library? Libraries connect us to books, computers, programs, tools and, most importantly, to each other.

Many donors honor a favorite librarian or branch through our Befriend a Branch program. Befriend a Branch gifts to The Library Foundation are tax-deductible, with 100 percent of funds contributed used to help your favorite branch. Donations made to support a specific location make a significant difference to the unique needs of that community and help library staff do more to grow minds of all kinds.

Happy National Library Week! It’s a time to celebrate the magic of libraries: discovering your next favorite book, watching a child’s eyes light up at storytime, getting expert help when you need it, and enjoying a welcoming place to learn and connect. These experiences are made possible by community support.

Every gift makes a difference, but monthly donors are the spine of the library's story. Consistent gifts keep Summer Reading, Homework Help, free books, and MakerSpace equipment running. Just $10/month puts books into kids’ hands, $15/month sustains ongoing literacy programs, and $25/month keeps reliable help available for students who need it most.

This National Library Week, move from appreciation to action. Become a monthly donor and help us say yes to more life‑changing moments. Give today at https://supportchpl.org/donate-monthly/

Nearly 40% of Ohio’s third graders aren’t reading proficiently.

Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library's storytimes are built using the Science of Reading to close that gap and provide young children with the concepts and literacy tools they need.

A grandmother recently told us her granddaughter has grown so much through storytime. "Isa loves coming to storytime and always enjoys the project extension activities you send home with her. Thank you so much for such an enriching opportunity. Isa has grown so much over the past year and our weekly storytime visits have been such an important part of her growth and development."

Donate to bring literacy and joy to more young readers at https://supportchpl.org/ways-to-support/donate/.

One book. One child. One BIG WIN.

At our Price Hill branch, a young reader asked one of our staffers. "Can you help me read?" With guidance from our staffer Brittany, he finished the book sounding out new words.

"He started of shy, but when I started sounding out loud with him, he grew more confident. By the end of the book, he was successfully sounding out words he didn't know when we started, like 'inside', 'cannot', and 'something'!"

Moments like this are possible because of supporters like you. We hope you'll consider making a gift to the Library Foundation today to spark more success stories: https://supportchpl.org/ways-to-support/donate/
