Clark County EMA will be hosting two upcoming hazardous materials training opportunities at the Clark County EMA Training Room, located at 3130 E. Main St., Springfield, Ohio.
HazMat Detection and Air Monitoring
June 2, 2026
This 8-hour hands-on course is designed for emergency response personnel and focuses on the selection, use, and interpretation of direct-reading instruments, test papers, and identification units used during hazardous materials incidents. Participants will work directly with detection equipment while reinforcing responder safety concepts, diagnostic capabilities, and turnback criteria. Training aligns with NFPA 472 Mission Specific Competencies involving Air Monitoring and Sampling.
Target audience includes Fire Service, HAZMAT, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, EOD, EMS, and Healthcare personnel.
Modern Day DECON
June 4, 2026
This one-day instructor-led course focuses on modern decontamination operations and complies with NFPA 470 standards. The course introduces modern decontamination concepts and tools designed to improve effectiveness while reducing exposure risks, personnel requirements, and operational footprint. Topics include Synthetic Opioids, CBRN incidents, biological hazards, general hazardous materials responses, and post-fire decontamination operations.
Target audience includes HAZMAT Team Members, Emergency Management personnel, and Bomb Team Members.
