Summer is the perfect time to get kids moving! Encourage children to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day to help build strong muscles and bones, boost their mood and confidence, and support a healthy lifestyle.
Try this fun activity: Sponge Relay! Give each child a sponge and place an empty bucket or bowl at one end of the yard. Using only water soaked up from a sprinkler (or another bucket of water), race to see who can fill the container first. It's a fun way to stay active, cool off, and make lasting summer memories!

If you'll be hosting or attending a cookout over the holiday weekend, it is important to keep food safety in mind. Here are a few basics to guide your food prep, cooking and cleanup:

1. Use potable ice for cold foods when transporting
2. Pack your cooler(s) correctly (ice on bottom, food, ice on top)
3. Keep hot foods hot too
4. Keep foods out of the temperature danger zone (around 40 degrees F - 140 degrees F)
5. Use a food thermometer when grilling
6. Handle leftovers correctly (food should be refrigerated in about an hour)

More information about food safety at summer picnics and cookouts can be found here: https://extension.osu.edu/today/food-and-picnic-safety?utm_campaign=faes_marketing-activity_fy26&utm_content=1782997320&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook

Today is National Food Waste Day! It’s a great reminder that small actions at home can make a big difference. Families can work together to save food, save money, and help the planet.
Here are a few easy ideas to try:
Plan meals together so food gets used instead of wasted.
Create an “Eat Me First” bin in the fridge for foods that need to be eaten soon.
Have a leftover challenge and turn last night’s meal into something new.
Shop with a list so you only buy what you need.
Freeze extras to enjoy later instead of throwing them away.
Small changes can add up to less waste, more savings, and smarter food habits for the whole family!
