March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month đź’™

At Walk of Joy (WOJ), we celebrate the beauty of different abilities every single day. This month is a special reminder that inclusion, understanding, and opportunity matter and that every individual brings unique gifts, talents, and perspectives to our community.

We believe that ability looks different for everyone, and that those differences make our world richer, more compassionate, and more connected. Through meaningful programs, creativity, community engagement, and genuine relationships, we strive to create spaces where individuals with developmental disabilities can thrive, grow, and shine.

This month, we celebrate the strengths, resilience, joy, and individuality of the people we serve. Their determination inspires us daily, and their presence reminds us that a truly strong community is one where everyone belongs.

Let’s continue to build a world that recognizes potential over limitations and celebrates every person for exactly who they are.

đź’™ Different abilities. Shared humanity. Stronger together.

This Black History Month, we honor Dr. Mae Jemison—the first Black woman astronaut—whose life reminds us that dreams have no limits and brilliance takes many forms.

Dr. Jemison broke barriers not by fitting into a mold, but by embracing her curiosity, intelligence, creativity, and determination. She once said, “Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.” That message speaks deeply to the work we do every day.

At Walk of Joy, we believe every person has unique gifts, potential, and dreams worth pursuing. We are committed to supporting adults with developmental disabilities as they explore their interests, build skills, and define success on their own terms.

Black history is not only about the past—it’s about inspiration, possibility, and creating a future where everyone is seen, valued, and empowered to dream big.

đź’« Dream boldly.
đź’« Break barriers.
💫 Believe in what’s possible.

The holidays can stir up a complex emotions for survivors of domestic violence—joy alongside grief, loneliness, or fear. This season can also be used to increase control and isolation, making connection even more critical. Community can make a huge difference. Check in, offer a safe place, or even help connect someone to resources.

Our hotline is available 24/7/365 at 513-381-5610, even through the holidays. If you or someone you know needs support, we’re here.
