First Chapter Friday in English III at Anderson High School allows students to explore different book genres and add books to their TBR (to be read) lists in the back of their classroom notebooks.

Mrs. Renard's most recent First Chapter Friday feature was "The Maidens" by Alex Michaelides.

Would you add it to your TBR list?

First Chapter Friday: a chance for 11th graders to grow their interest in reading and broaden their exposure to different genres. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’ก

English III at Anderson High School starts each class with independent reading. But every Friday, Mrs. Renard uses some of that time to read the first chapter of a book, encouraging students to give different genres a try and to lengthen their TBR (to be read) lists in the back of their classroom notebooks.

๐Ÿ“š Todayโ€™s feature was โ€œThe Maidensโ€ by Alex Michaelides.

Developing a passion for reading nurtures essential life skills that are central to FHSDโ€™s English curriculum.

Today we recognize Patriot Day, a day dedicated to remembering the tragedy and great sacrifices 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. We pause to observe a national day of service, remembrance and reflection. During a dedicated moment of silence, our schools acknowledge the dayโ€™s importance in our countryโ€™s history, honoring the lives lost, the bravery of first responders and the extraordinary resilience demonstrated by communities across the nation.

Staff in the Stands! ๐Ÿ“ฃ๐ŸŽ‰ Important moments happen even after school, and Anderson staff understand the value of showing up for students after the final bell rings. This school year, Raptor teachers and staff have designated games where they will show up for student-athletes as "Staff in the Stands."

Here's a photo from the first competition they attended this school year: Girls Tennis. ๐ŸŽพ

The Anderson Township Senior Center has been a wonderful partner and neighbor to FHSD, helping provide meaningful experiences and connections for our students. Over the last 10 years, it has grown and evolved to be a vibrant community for members to socialize and participate in various activities and programs!

๐ŸŒŸ To spread the word about all its incredible offerings, ATSC is inviting the community to an Open House on September 16 from 4-6 p.m.
