Together, we protected critical su***de prevention and mental health funding. Last night, the administration informed media outlets that its decision to terminate thousands of su***de prevention and mental health grants at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has been reversed—a major victory for students, families, and communities nationwide. Importantly, grantees have begun receiving official notices confirming that their funding will continue.
This outcome would not have been possible without your advocacy. In the hours following our call to action, supporters of Griffin Ambitions – Student Mental Health Policy Alliance responded immediately. More than 2,500 messages were sent to Members of Congress from 48 states and the District of Columbia, delivering a clear message: su***de prevention and mental health funding save lives and must be protected.
This is a significant win for su***de prevention and a powerful reminder of what happens when advocates act quickly and together. We are deeply grateful to the students, families, educators, mental health professionals, and partners who stayed engaged, raised their voices, and stood ready to act during a period of real uncertainty.
Griffin Ambitions – Student Mental Health Policy Alliance will continue to closely monitor developments at SAMHSA and remain vigilant in defending su***de prevention funding and student mental health policy. We will keep you informed of future actions and opportunities to engage.
Thank you for being part of this movement and for everything you do to help protect student mental health and save lives.
Sincerely,
Griffin Ambitions – Student Mental Health Policy Alliance
