Yesterday was good.

People showed up.
People walked.
People donated.
People checked in on each other.

That matters. Thank you to everyone who supported CAIN this Hunger Walk season. You may have donated money, shared posts, worked a table, passed out fliers, walked with us, or encouraged somebody else to get involved.

The work continues tomorrow.
But The Hunger Walk reminded us that we're not doing it alone.

The Market is closed today, Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day. We’ll reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, May 27.

Starting at 9:30am tomorrow, you can text 513-548-1024 to get in line for the Market.

And a reminder: today is also the Hunger Walk. If you’ve been meaning to chip in, there’s still time to support neighbors across our community working to make sure everyone has access to food and care. ❤️

Tomorrow, we walk.

For the people trying to stretch groceries for another few days.
For the kids who shouldn't have to think about whether or not there's food at home.
For neighbors carrying too much alone.

But also for the community we live in.
One where people show up for each other before things become a crisis.

There's still time to donate or share the link: https://give.freestorefoodbank.org/CAIN45223

Thank you to Pastor Dan and First United Church of Christ, Cincinnati for offering their Fellowship Hall for our Volunteer Appreciation Event last night.
It was wonderful to connect with each other and show our appreciation, while enjoying a taco bar and a delicious tres leche cake.
Grateful as always for our volunteers and community partners

Want to help us clean the free fridge?

Hello Northside friends! We are looking for volunteers willing to donate 10 minutes per week to help maintain our mutual aid project, the free fridge.

This fridge is located on the side of Annette's house, at 4234 Hamilton Ave, right in the heart of Northside. Cleaning products and training can be provided!

We are also looking for a volunteer coordinator to help us manage our volunteer team. If you love spreadsheets and are interested in donating about 2 hours per week, we'd love to chat!

Please shoot us a message to get involved, and THANK YOU for supporting such an important community project!

Last year, people visited the pantry more than 14,000 times. That's not just a number.

It's parents figuring out dinner.
Neighbors picking up groceries.
Kids eating breakfast before school.
Families making it through another week.

Food access isn't separate from housing, healthcare, transportation or community.
Everything touches everything.

That is why we walk: https://give.freestorefoodbank.org/CAIN45223

A huge thank you to Liz Virgo from the Homeless Coalition for educating us on the history of redlining and credit, and to Marty Schultes from Northside Bank and Trust Co for educating us on credit scores tonight.

Thanks to everyone who came out! What else would you like to learn at Annette's House?

Tonight was bittersweet as it was the last volunteer shift for three of our long term volunteers.
Mary, Katie and Megan started volunteering with us as part of their first year medical school cohort four years ago. After their required hours, they were among six med students who chose to stay with us to volunteer.
Now they are preparing to move as they were matched for their residencies. We're certain they'll be successful wherever they land.
We wish them the best and are grateful for their service and dedication
