Calling all Mt. Washington Residents!

This Saturday, February 21st from 2-4pm is the Kickoff meeting for Mt. Washington's Neighborhood Plan Update! This will be an open house-style community event with interactive stations for you to share your feedback about what the future of Mt. Washington should look like, and find out what to expect during the ongoing plan update. The school gym will be open to kids while meeting activities are going on and there will be light refreshments.

All are welcome - See you there!

We are hearing some folks are asking around about this years’ season. First, yes, we are gardening again, this is our 10th season! We are truly grateful for the support of the Masonic Lodge, as the garden sits on their property.

We first reserve the private beds for last years gardeners. They have until March 31 to notify us if they are returning. Only then will we know how many beds are available to new gardeners.

There is a waitlist for the beds. If you would like to be added email [email protected]. There are always more people wanting beds than are available, but all is not lost. The large bed in the front is for anyone to use, it’s first come, first served. Stay tuned for more info as we get closer to Spring.

Happy Earth Day! Stop by the garden and grab some free packages of seeds or seed potato. Growing your own food is good for the planet! We will leave these out for the next few days.

Plant lovers! Have you been to The Potted Palm yet?

This new business in Mt. Washington is run by a long time gardener here at the community garden, Emy Abrahams. You won’t find a nicer, more knowledgeable person than Emy.

Her store has all kind of lovely plants, from $4 to over $100, plus vintage gifts and homemade locally sourced items. It’s located between LaRosa’s and Union Savings Bank in the business district, in the old bookstore space. Check it out!

Happy new year, friends of the garden! We look forward to another year of fruitful harvests, along with some exciting garden improvements to be announced a little bit later.

In the meantime if you are interested in a garden plot, we have a few plots open and maybe more once I hear back from last years gardeners. Email your interest to [email protected]

It’s not too late to grow some produce! While starting from seed might not be possible at this point in the season, we had a generous donation of plants from Wildwood Flora that are available on a first come basis.

Eggplant, a variety of tomatoes, peppers and such are on the bench under the garden sign.

Enjoy!

For those interested in renting a garden bed for this upcoming season- we have reached out to our gardeners from last year, who get first dibs on retaining their garden for this season. Once we hear back from them (the deadline is March 5th) we will have a better idea how many new beds are open. If you want to be added to the wait list you can email [email protected] with your name and phone number, and we will add you. Thank you for your interest.

We are big fans of native plants here at the garden. We’ve planted several over the last few years. If you’re interested in learning more about native plants you can sign up for the Civic Gardens wait list for their next series.

Well, our Native Plants for Homeowners series sold out more quickly than we'd expected. We're thrilled that there's so much native plant interest in Cincinnati! We also know that not everyone who wanted to participate was able to register.

We're currently figuring out when we can run the series again. If you'd like to stay in the loop, sign up for the interest list and we'll let you know when we have more information: https://civicgardencenter.dm.networkforgood.com/forms/native-plants-for-homeowners-interest-list

Thank you to everyone who showed interest in gardening with us this year.

At this time all of our private beds are reserved for the year.

However you are welcome to garden with us by using the two large community beds in the front, and the pumpkin potato patch at the rear of the garden. We will see you in the garden!
