We are a 501c3 organization that endeavors to be a comprehensive resource for the local music community. We do this through three main programs, a health care initiative, a legal education program, and through raising money for musicians in truly dire unforeseen situations. We were initially founded by Gary Burbank to help those musicians who make at least 51% of their income playing music to get
back on their feet after getting knocked down by an unforeseen catastrophe. We have grown into much more than that, and we welcome your support. Through a partnership with Northern Kentucky University's Chase College of Law, we are providing free legal seminars to musicians on topics that include: copyrights, contracts, trademarks, intellectual property, business basics for the performing musician. We hold these seminars in recording studios around town and we have several seminars per year that range in scope from the introductory overview to more in depth discussions on topics such as licensing and new methods of earning a living making music. We are currently building a strategic partnership with several health and wellness organizations to provide low, or no-cost, access to health care, mental health, and substance abuse treatment for the independent, working musicians in the Tri-state. We have seen what a tremendous impact Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) has made, and we are trying to bring their model here to Cincinnati. Just as Austin has done, we think we can dramatically improve the quality of life for the entire region by proactively working to retain and sustain the top musical talent in the Cincinnati market. We have helped musicians through many serious and unforeseen catastrophes through fundraising and financial assistance programs. We have stepped in to help with health problems, house fires, broken limbs, and some limited legal situations that posed serious threats to the musicians through no fault of their own. We truly aim to be a comprehensive resource for the gigging musicians of the Greater Cincinnati area. After all music has done for all of us, we feel it's only right to give back. We want Cincinnati's cultural economy to be as strong as in other cities that are known to celebrate their music.
