Participants got an indepth tour of the in South Fairmount and learned about how MSD is uniquely complying with a federal Consent Decree to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSOs).

Mary Magdalen House is launching Cincinnati’s first mobile shower, bathroom, and laundry unit to assist residents experiencing homelessness.

And MSD is providing free disposal of their wastewater.

Mary Magdalen House has provided hygiene services to people experiencing homelessness for 38 years from a fixed site in Over-the-Rhine. When they started thinking about going mobile, they reached out to MSD through CSD employees Anthony Giometti and Nathan Doyle.

ā€œIt’s a good partnership,ā€ said Anthony Giometti, an Environmental Safety Specialist in the Industrial Waste section. ā€œThey’re meeting the needs of people who don’t have access to showers and laundry facilities, and we’re helping them dispose of a small amount of wastewater. It also gives them a better understanding of what we do.ā€

Mary Magdalen House is currently taking their mobile unit to a neighborhood church and a food pantry but ultimately hopes to have it at multiple locations within the community on a daily basis.

Friendly reminder from MSD. There are only two ways to report a possible sewer backup:

- ļæ¼Calling (513) 352-4900

- Reporting online at msdgc.org/SBU

Please be patient. 😊 We are experiencing a high call volume, so if you call you may need to wait on hold for a bit to reach a dispatcher.

We are all hands on deck right now, so our crews may not be able to investigate your report within our normal four-hour window. We will get there as soon as possible.

Thank you!
