Darrell knows firsthand what can happen when someone chooses to invest in another person.

As a high school student a coach named Yohannes stepped in—not just as a coach, but as a mentor. That relationship helped shape Darrell’s faith, his future, and his desire to do the same for others.

Today, Darrell is studying secondary education at UC, serving as a Young Life leader, and entering his third year as a Literacy Lab fellow, gaining hands-on classroom experience while helping young students learn and grow.

“I want to have an impact on students. I want to be in a classroom where I am a safe person but also a person that students can learn from and enjoy being in the classroom with.”

Help Bring MashUp 2026: Kinetic Hope to Life!

CityLink Center’s annual MashUp is coming Friday, October 2, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make this unforgettable evening possible!

MashUp 2026: Kinetic Hope is an immersive evening celebrating hope in motion and the real life-change happening every day at CityLink. Guests will experience live performances, music, interactive art, food, drinks, and powerful stories of courage and transformation.

Behind an experience like this is an incredible team of volunteers—and we’d love for you to be part of it.

We have a variety of opportunities to serve throughout the event. Whether you're helping welcome guests, supporting activities, assisting with food and hospitality, or helping behind the scenes, every role contributes to creating an amazing experience for our community.

What does it really mean to navigate life while experiencing poverty?

CityLink Center’s Immersion Experience gives participants an opportunity to step into the shoes of individuals and families experiencing poverty and navigate a simulated month of real-life challenges.

We need volunteers to help make this experience possible.
