May We Help

May We Help Engineering Inabilities into Capabilities At May We Help, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a full and independent life.

That's why we provide free, custom solutions for individuals with disabilities. Our team of talented volunteers, including engineers, designers, inventors, and artisans, works together to create unique devices that address specific needs and challenges. From adaptive equipment to assistive technologies, we strive to empower individuals with disabilities to overcome obstacles and achieve their goal

s. In addition to the custom solutions, we also offer a variety of adaptive equipment, including walkers, wheelchairs, gait trainers, standers, and more. Equipment events are held several times a month on Tuesdays and Sundays. A full schedule is available on our website: https://maywehelp.org/adaptive-equipment-swap/

May We Help also offers programs to children in the disabled community. Our annual Halloween party, held in October, is a great event featuring costumes made by our volunteers to incorporate the child's wheelchair into the costume. At Christmas time, we host a satellite workshop for Santa with a toy box full of switch-adapted toys. The event offers sweet treats and a visit with Santa. The best part of May We Help is that all of our solutions, equipment, and programming are supported by generous donors who help us offer everything we do free of cost to the recipient. Need a piece of Adaptive Equipment? Join us at one of our September Equipment Events!

Physical Therapists will be on-site to match and fit equipment, and modification experts can make in-the-moment repairs or modifications. More complex modifications may require scheduling a pick-up after the event. We generally have a variety of wheelchairs, gait trainers, standers, Hoyer lifts, and other miscellaneous equipment available.

All equipment is previously owned and is FREE to the recipient.

The event is open-house style. You will check in with a volunteer and then meet with a volunteer PT to review your equipment needs and be fitted for a piece of equipment, as we have it available.

Meet Julia! She absolutely loves being outdoors and feeling the wind in her face. When she was little, her family could tuck her infant car seat into a standard bike trailer to take her along for the ride. But as Julia has grown, family bike rides have had to take a backseat. Because Julia is completely dependent on her wheelchair and has no trunk control, standard trailers on the market just don't offer the support and safety she needs.

That’s where the MWH community comes in. Volunteer Ben worked to find her a solution that gets she and her family back out on the trails!

I’m honored to shine the next Accessibility Spotlight on The Adaptive Arts and Music Project (AAMP), an incredible organization dedicated to expanding access to music and the arts for students with physical disabilities. 💙

Founded by Deborah Amend and Jennifer Petry, AAMP grew from a simple but powerful idea: every child deserves the opportunity to make music. What began with individualized adaptive music instruction for their own children has blossomed into the Cincinnati Adaptive Arts and Music Camp, where students receive personalized instruction, adaptive equipment, and the tools to thrive creatively. Through partnerships with educators, engineers, and artists, AAMP continues to break down barriers and redefine what's possible in arts education. 🎻🎨

I'm so inspired by AAMP's commitment to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to develop their artistic voice, regardless of physical ability. Their work is changing lives and opening doors for the next generation of musicians and artists. ✨
