In the face of imperialist war in Iran and in acknowledgement of yesterday, we draw inspiration from the heroic Woman, Life, Freedom movement that shook the repressive Iranian regime in 2022.

The mass movement exploded in reaction to the horrific killing of Jina (Mahsa) Amini, a young Kurdish woman, by the so-called morality police for allegedly not wearing the hijab correctly, and later evolved into a struggle to overthrow the Islamic Republic. The movement of young people, women, and workers was met with mass arrests and murder.

US and Israeli imperialism obviously have zero interest in the liberation of Iranians, as Trump disingenuously claims. The anti-regime movement in Iran can have no confidence in Trump, the US, or any imperialist power.

Socialist Alternative stands for a revival of a mass working-class struggle against US imperialism and war, against the repressive and misogynistic Islamic Republic, and for genuine liberation of ordinary Iranians and minority groups like the Kurds.

Minneapolis has shown us what is possible with a united movement that goes on the offensive with strike action. We need to get strike ready in Cincinnati to organize towards a nationwide general strike that can shut down ICE terror and the Trump regime. Business cannot go on as usual when our immigrant neighbors and coworkers are being abducted and murdered by ICE.

You asked, we answered!!

Last weekend, 200 workers and young people in the Cincinnati/N. Kentucky area came out to our organizing meeting. There was no shortage of excitement towards the need for a nationwide general strike. But, the same question kept coming up: I want to take action, but how do I convince my coworkers and classmates? So, one of the breakout groups proposed we have a meeting on that topic.

Whether you’re a veteran to organizing or just getting started, join us to discuss how to politicize conversations in a way that helps convinces those around you to take unified action! We need escalating working class action including strikes and walkouts to effectively take on ICE terror and Trump’s authoritarian regime.

Thank you to the 200 (!) people from the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area who came out today to our organizing meeting against ICE!

Students, union members, and community members came together to discuss the massive developments in Minneapolis and how to bring offensive tactics like strike action to Cincinnati. We need to prepare ourselves for when ICE tries to invade here full scale. That’s why we are calling an Action Conference on Feb. 28th to unite left groups, student groups, and labor unions to collectively discuss strategy for how we can shut it down and kick ICE out.

Healthcare workers across the country demand that healthcare unions call for a nationwide strike against Trump and ICE!

Healthcare unions need to follow the lead of the labor movement in Minnesota and shut it down. These deportations don’t make anyone safer—not burned out workers or terrified immigrant patients.

We demand justice for Alex Pretti, ICE out of our workplaces, and abolish ICE to fund healthcare, affordable housing, and schools!

Socialist Alternative member Claire speaks to a crowd of hundreds in downtown Cincinnati. Despite the freezing cold, last Friday community members, workers, young people, union members, and immigrants marched side by side through the streets in solidarity with the Minneapolis general strike. Now, let’s take the strike from Minneapolis, to every city, for a nationwide shut down that kicks ICE out for good.

RNA and the VA NNU nurses will be holding space for Alex Pretti during a candle light vigil on Wednesday at 1900 in Levine park.

Please join us as we stand in solidarity with Alex’s family, coworkers, friends, Nurses, healthcare workers, patients, and the people of Minnesota and throughout the country that are grappling with this tremendous, violent loss of life.

An injury to one, is an injury to all. We are Alex Pretti.
