Ten elected officials and candidates from across Hamilton County have signed on to host Cincinnati’s Pride Hour. County Auditor Jessica Miranda, County Treasurer Jill Schiller, State Representative Karen Brownlee, Cincinnati Councilmembers Seth Walsh, Meeka Owens, Anna Albi and Evan Nolan, St. Bernard Councilmember Connor Moreton, Madeira Councilmember Jodi Whitted, and Ohio House candidate Caleb Price.

New report. Ohio ranks 34th of 50.

Out Leadership released its 2026 State LGBTQ+ Business Climate Index, the 8th annual ranking of all 50 states across 32 indicators covering legal protections, youth and family, health access, political climate, and the workplace. Ohio scored 40.84 out of 100. The national average is 60.87. 📊

Swipe for the full breakdown. Health and Safety is our weakest category at 8 out of 30. On the same 20 indicator scale used year over year, Ohio has gone 50.35, then 42.35, then 41.35. We did not improve. Other states fell faster.

Michigan sits at 82. We are closer to Indiana than to any of it.

Here is where Ohio actually stands right now. 📋

HB 798 would govern which restroom you use, the name your school or employer uses, and the s*x on your ID. HB 249 passed the Ohio House 63 to 32 in March and now sits in Senate Judiciary. SB 70, the Ohio Fairness Act, has waited since February 2025 without a vote.

And Ohioans keep showing up anyway. 🗣️ 124 people filed testimony against HB 249 in March, and over half had never testified before. A village of under 1,000 voted 3 to 2 to keep its nondiscrimination protections. 64% of Ohio voters say trans issues get used as a distraction from what matters more.

That last number is the whole story. 🗳️ Most Ohioans want their lawmakers on cost of living, schools, and health care. Not this.
