🐎➡️🚋➡️🚗➡️✈️ Cicero’s Journey Through Transportation

Cicero has witnessed remarkable changes in transportation over the generations. From the days of horse and carriage, to the arrival of the trolley and automobile, each new form of transportation brought greater mobility and connected our community in new ways.

And then, transportation took to the skies!

By the 1920s, aviation was still in its infancy, yet small airfields were bringing the excitement of flight to communities across Central New York. Around 1929, Cicero was home to Hayes Airport, offering local residents a glimpse into a rapidly changing world where airplanes were becoming an increasingly familiar sight.

For the community, Hayes Airport represented more than just a place for airplanes—it was a symbol of progress, adventure, and the possibilities of a new era.

From horse-drawn carriages to flight, Cicero’s transportation history reflects a community that has continued to grow and change with the times.
