Today, we not only remember but we truly honor the brave men and women of the military who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Let us pause and reflect on those who fought for our country.

Yesterday, our department received a call about some baby raccoons who appeared to be without their mom. When our officers arrived on scene, they found these little cuties safely up in a tree and determined they were old enough to be out scavenging on their own. 🦝🌳

To make the call even sweeter, the citizen — who happens to be a flower farmer — surprised our two officers with these absolutely beautiful flowers afterward. 💐

Check out how vibrant these flowers are!

This afternoon, a report came in of an injured bald eagle near the intersection of 236th and US 31. Initial responding officers were unable to locate the eagle. Thanks to Officer Barker's determination and persistence, she was able to successfully locate and rescue the obviously injured eagle. The eagle was safely scruffed and transported back to the Cicero Police Department where arrangements were made with our friends at the Indiana DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife for the eagle to be transported to Providence Wildlife Rehabilitation where it hopefully makes a full recovery.

We also want to say a huge thank you to the concerned citizen who notified dispatch of the injured eagle. There is no doubt that this eagle would not have survived without proper intervention. This was truly a remarkable experience for everyone involved.

Kicking off Mental Health Awareness Month by congratulating two more of our officers on graduating CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) today!

CIT is an incredibly valuable training that provides officers necessary information and resources to serve those in crisis. The CIT committee is made up of members of law enforcement, fire/EMS and dispatch along with representatives from the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), Aspire, Community Health and St Vincent. We are very grateful for the work they do!

Apparently our friends over at the Cicero Fire Department thought our parking lot was the perfect place to park their apparatus while they sat down and enjoyed dinner. You’d think they would’ve known better than to leave it sitting in our territory like that… 👀🤭

All jokes aside, we appreciate our brothers and sisters in the fire service and are grateful to work alongside them! 🚒🚓
