Dear Citizens of Acadia Parish Fire Protection District #1 / Richard Volunteer Fire Department.

At the beginning of the year, the District #1 board of directors decided that it was in the best interest to upgrade one the tankers that dated back to 1978(The Watertrain). Due to the rising costs to keep the old truck maintained and the safety of firefighters. The board purchased a 2020 Peterbuilt from Kenworth of Louisiana.

After the purchase, Clay's Paint and Body painted the color scheme the department has on the newer trucks.

Delta Fire Equipment performed the installs on the emergency lighting, radios, and decals.

We would like to thank everyone involved getting this truck purchased and in service, but most of all, thank you to the citizens of the fire district for y'all continued support. This could not have been done without all of you. It takes a couple years of saving money to make purchases like this. Thank y'all. -Chief Dusty Edwards

☀️Ground is dry☀️ + 🍃Air is light🍃 + 💨Wind is up💨=
Increased 🔥Fire🔥 Danger!

Local fire departments are being challenged by out-of-control burn piles and several properties have actually been destroyed in these brush fires-turned-wildfires.

While the state is NOT under a burn ban, State Fire Marshal Chief Bryan J Adams is strongly encouraging Louisianans to ❌avoid any outdoor burning practices❌ this week until conditions become less concerning.

BUT, if outdoor burning is unavoidable, PLEASE do so safely by following these tips:

• Ensure weather conditions, including wind speed and direction, are safe for burning
• Confirm open burning is legal in your area
• Establish a burn pile at least 75 feet from any structures
• Create a 5-foot wet control line around the area
• Avoid the use of flammable liquids to ignite a burn pile
• Remain vigilant over the fire with a water source nearby at all times
• Alert a loved one or neighbor of your activities or conduct them with help
• If the fire does get out of control, call 911
