Chula Vista Firefighters Local2180 are en route to Washington DC and the International Association of Fire Fighters to advocate for legislation that will improve the safety and wellbeing of firefighters.
This important conference allows firefighters to hear from and speak directly with policy makers who can help effect meaningful change.

Chula Vista firefighters and paramedics currently work a 56-hour work week—one of the longest schedules in public safety. While our community has grown and emergency calls have steadily increased, our work schedule has remained the same for decades.

Reducing the work week to 42 hours would better align Chula Vista with modern public safety staffing models, improve firefighter, EMT, and Paramedic wellness, and help ensure our crews are rested and ready when our community calls 911.

At the end of the day, this conversation isn’t just about hours—it’s about protecting the people who protect Chula Vista.

A fire broke out at Chula Tacos on H Street in Chula Vista on Valentine's night, forcing the popular restaurant to close indefinitely while cleanup and repairs are completed.

The Chula Vista Fire Department confirmed crews were dispatched to a commercial fire that erupted at Chula Tacos on Saturday night.

According to CVFD, when crews arrived, they found a fire in the attic of the popular taqueria located on H Street in Chula Vista.
