Please join us for tonight's meeting and guest speaker Ms. Maria Rodrigues Callejas. We are located at the Veterans Home in Chula Vista, Bldg. F at 6:30 p.m. Semper Fi from the 1207.
Ms. Callejas was born on 16 July 1969 in South Haven, Michigan. As the daughter of immigrant parents, she spent her early years living throughout the U.S. After graduating high school she joined the United States Marines Corps.
She was assigned to the Personnel and Retention field and served at H&S Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, CA; MALS-29, NAS New River, N.C.
Upon completion of her eight year commitment to the U.S. Marines, she was accepted to the Univ. of South Carolina where she studied business and Early Childhood Education.
It was during this time that Maria accepted the position of the Marine Corps Family Team Building Coordinator/Quality of Life Coordinator Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, S.C. in November of 1999. She was one of the drafters of the original order governing the Marine Corps Family Team Building Program. She was responsible for ensuring the Marine Corps Family Team Building Program Training and Education curricula were equally provided to the Marines and families of the Depot and throughout the Eastern Recruiting Region. Additionally ensure that Quality of Life issues and trends for this demographic were addressed appropriately at the Commanding Gen-eral level as appropriate.
In 2009, she was recruited to the Headquarters USN to serve at the Personnel Support De-tachment NAS, North Island, CA. Here she was responsible for ensuring personnel rec-ords of service of thousands of permanent personnel and students attached to NAS North Island and NAB Coronado were accurate and that travel and pay related services were rendered in a timely manner.
In February, 2011, Ms. Callejas was recruited by Headquarters, Marine Corps for the po-sition she currently holds as the Marine Corps Family Team Building Program Trainer/Director for the 12th Marine Corps District. She is responsible for providing Marine Corps Family Team Building training support to the Marine Recruiters, Permanent Per-sonnel and their families who reside in the ten western states including Alaska and the Pacific Islands.
Her personal awards include Navy and Marine Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award; Unit Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 1997 Phi Kappa Phi National Business Honor Society, 2005 Chi Delta Chi National Veterans Honor Society, 2005-2006 Named Young Careerist by Beaufort Business and Professional Women’s Club, 2006 Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, 2013 Named Guest of Honor at the Inaugu-ral event for the Oregon Supports Military Families Non-Profit organization.
