PROFESSIONALLY:
With over 27 years of experience in engineering and surveying, Rodney Burch has built a career at the intersection of infrastructure, community development, and leadership. His background spans development, land surveying, and infastructure complemented by a strong entrepreneurial spirit as the founder of three successful businesses. Dedicated to education and professional growth,
Rodney served as an Instructor and Program Coordinator for Idaho State University’s Civil Engineering Technology program, guiding future professionals for five years. His public service record includes six years as Public Works Director in Chubbuck, where he oversaw water, sewer, parks, streets, building, planning, engineering, sanitation, and economic development. As Executive Director of the Chubbuck Development Authority for six years, Rodney helped shape the city’s future through projects like Country Acres, Stuart Splash Pad, and New Day Parkway. He played a pivotal role in the Downtown Vision and Property Acquisition strategy, the Pine Ridge Mall Urban Renewal Area redevelopment plan, and creative community developments such as Northside Crossing and Harvest Springs. Beyond city leadership, he has served as a Chubbuck Land Use Commission Member, a Board Member of the Chubbuck Employee Health Trust, and in 2025, was honored with a Governor’s appointment to the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (IBPELS). Today, Rodney continues to advance community and regional development as Executive Director of the Strategic Communities Alliance, where he brings together vision, strategy, and collaboration to drive meaningful progress for smaller municipalities who lack the resources to thrive. PERSONALLY:
Above all, Rodney is a family man, proud father, new Grandfather, and friend who values real human connection, honesty, and integrity. He enjoys spending time with his wife and dog hiking in the hills above Chubbuck, or traveling through the Pacific Northwest in their van. With his two sons he can be found sailing, working on house projects, or riding motorcycles.
