The siren on the Fire Dept will be rang between 3:00-4:00pm in honor of Cpt Mike Dickerson as he answers his final call who served the citizens of the Town of Christiansburg and Montgomery County for 56 years.

On Feb. 15, the Virginia Department of Forestry's annual Burn Law goes into effect through April 30. This law prohibits fires before 4 p.m. and after midnight. In other words, you can only burn between 4 p.m. and midnight.

Please attend all fires until they are extinguished. If you plan to burn, please report it to the NRV 911 Center by calling the non-emergency number at 540-382-4343, and dispatchers will log your plan to control burn.

We switched things up this year and held an open house at the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Dept. during Fire Prevention Week. It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome families to our facility!

We even had a fire call go off mid-event showing how quickly our firefighters jump into action!

Thank you to everyone who joined in this year's event, including our surrounding fire departments!

First Responders don't always talk mental health, but we do.

Join us Oct. 18 as Kenny Mitchell Jr., founder of Operation Yellow Tape, shares insights on mental health, su***de prevention, and PTSD awareness. He will be focusing on proactive practices to help us all avoid suffering in silence. Su***de awareness is 24/7, 365-day commitment.
