โพ๐ฅ Good Sunday morning everyone! The 2026 Diamond Youth Baseball (DYB) & Diamond Youth Softball (DYS) District 3 Tournaments are back for day #4 at Teel Park in Riner!
We survived a hot, dusty and understaffed Saturday and made it to the other side. We should be in much better shape today staffing wide...now if only Mother Nature will cooperate. Please note that our plan is to do whatever it takes to get today's lineup of games played.
๐ฅ Ladies first, on Friday night the Floyd County Lady Buffaloes 12u All-Star team wrapped up the 12u Softball Series and will represent District 3 in the VA State tournament in Dinwiddie. Congrats Floyd County!
๐ฅ In addition our very own Auburn Lady Eagles 10u All-Star team wrapped up their own best-of-three series 2 games to 1 to become the 2026 DYS DIstrict 3 Champions! This is Montgomery County's 6th District Championship at the 10u softball level (2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2026). Auburn 10u will also travel to Dinwiddie to represent DIstrict 3 at the VA State tournament. Congrats Auburn!
โพ In yesterday's Ozone (12u) action Auburn would win and advance to today's championship game. They will be joined by Blacksburg. Auburn is still undefeated so Blacksburg would have to win twice today for the title. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 2:00PM. If a second game is needed, it will take place an hour after the first one ends.
โพ AAA (10u) Baseball finally got underway with all sorts of action! Christiansburg and Blacksburg were the big winners as they both went 2-0 on the day and will meet in a 4:30 winner's bracket showdown. Radford, Auburn, East Mont and Floyd County all have a loss but are still alive and will need a good day to make it to Monday's semifinals/championship.

Thanks to our friends at Frog Pond Swimming Pool for borrowing some of their staff. Thanks to Nana's Sweets & Treats for keeping everyone fed and hydrated, thanks to Montgomery County Fire-EMS Department for being on hand. And finally thanks to every single umpire who has come out and made this tournament possible. There would be no tournament if these umpires didn't show up and do a job that no one else wants to do. We can not thank you all enough!

๐ง Nana's Sweets & Treats will be on-site serving up delicious food and treats throughout the evening.
๐ Please do not park at the Riner Fire Station. There is plenty of parking available inside Teel Park for all tournament guests.
