This week, the Board of Supervisors officially adopted Montgomery Matters, the County's new Comprehensive Plan!

Montgomery Matters is the culmination of two years of intentional and robust public engagement, stakeholder discussions, and citizen input into the County's future vision over the next 20 years!

Our staff is so proud of the final document and cannot wait to get to work on the needs our citizens have identified throughout the engagement process.

The New River Valley Regional Commission is seeking your input on the Valley-to-Valley Corridor Study. This project builds on the 2019 Valley-to-Valley Trail Study, finalized by VDOT in 2024.

The goal of this study is to help project partners preserve rights-of-way for a future multijurisdictional bicycle and pedestrian trail connecting the New River Trail State Park to the Roanoke River Greenway.

A community engagement survey invites you to select your preferred routes from the three highest-ranked alignments in each section — Pulaski to Radford, Radford to Blacksburg/Christiansburg, and Blacksburg/Christiansburg to Roanoke County — as identified in the 2024 study. You can also design your own route using previously identified trail segments.

Meet Chloe! As we wrap up our Meet the Team series, we're excited to post Community Spotlights starting with Virginia Tech's planning programs. Chloe graduated this past spring with her B.A. in Public and Urban Affairs and is now pursuing her Master's in Urban and Regional Planning through Virginia Tech's accelerated program.

A challenge in the planning profession is simply spreading awareness that the field exists and plays a vital role in shaping our communities. We're thrilled to spotlight opportunities like these that inspire and support the next generations of planners.
