It’s home to one of the largest middle-Pleistocene fossil finds in North America—from Columbian mammoths and saber-toothed cats to giant sloths. Irvingtonian Middle-Pleistocene fossils (700,000 years old) are on display at the Center across the street from the Fairmead dig site. Columbian mammoth, saber tooth cats, sloths, dire wolves, horse, camels and 37 species are on display. Students may uncover and identify replica fossils in the Mock dig.

Well bring those dinos to our dino wash station during our Mammoth Orange Ice Cream Social on June 20th from 11 am to 3 pm. Don't forget to get a sweet ice cream treat once you're done cleaning your scaley friends. We hope to see you and your dino pals there.

For the first week of Women’s History Month, we honour paleoartist Alice B. Woodward (1862-1951). Born in London, UK, Alice began drawing at a young age and by the time she was in her teens, she was doing scientific illustrations for her father, who was Keeper of Geology at the Natural History Museum. Alice went on to work mainly as an illustrator of children’s literature, including Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Black Beauty. She also continued to practice paleoart, including 50 out of 56 plates for Henry R. Knipe’s 1912 book Evolution in the Past.

A lot of people know about the great female paleontologist Mary Anning, but not many people know about Charlotte Murchison

Lady Charlotte Hugonin Murchison died on 9 February 1869 at the age of 80.

An avid fossil collector, she introduced her husband Sir Roderick Impey Murchison to the world of geology & later edited and illustrated his work.

The "Ammonites Murchisonae" (now Ludwigia murchisonae) is named after her.
