🧨 July 3, 2025 15th St UPDATE: 🧨
Oklahoma County crews have been awesome and came out today to work on 15th St just west of Hiwassee to help us out. They hope to have the repairs completed this evening pending weather.

🚧 ROAD UPDATE AROUND CHOCTAW🚧

I know the condition of many roads across Choctaw has been incredibly frustrating — and I want to share what’s being done, what’s coming, and how we’re working to fix it.

Harper Road
City crews have finished clearing trees along Harper Road and construction will begin on a full tear up, replacement, widening, and drainage. This road must be widened by 4 feet. The goal is to have this finished before school starts, weather permitting.

15th Street (West of Hiwassee)
The condition of 15th is rough theres no question. This section has been a long-standing challenge due to drainage issues. Oklahoma County will be coming out to assess and help with immediate repairs.
Long-Term Fix:
We’ve partnered with Midwest City to secure a grant to completely redo that mile of 15th Street. The water that flows from Midwest City into Choctaw has caused erosion under the road, and this project will also solve that problem.
FYI: 15th Street here is what’s called a “shared centerline” meaning one side is Choctaw and the other is Midwest City. So we’re tackling it together.

Timelines for this will be shared as soon as we have more firm dates.

Potholes
With all the rain recently and weak road bases in throughout the city, potholes have been popping up everywhere. Our crew has been working hard to include evenings and overtime to patch as many as possible.

More Road Work Coming
We’re finalizing plans for additional miles of road work citywide, possibly starting as early as September. As soon as those projects are locked in, we’ll share full details.

If you’ve had damage from a pothole (like a blown tire) you can file a tort claim in any city where the damage occurred. That claim goes to an independent review, and they’ll decide if it’s approved. This includes Choctaw and any other city in Oklahoma. Forms can be found on the city website.

I appreciate your patience and understanding. None of this is easy or fast, but long-term fixes are in progress. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to City Hall or email me directly.
