Good evening, CMS families—this is Principal Lauren Johnson with your weekly update for the week of October 26th.
On Monday (10/26), we kick off Red Ribbon Week—students are encouraged to wear RED as we promote healthy, drug-free choices and positive decision-making. Reports Cards go home on Monday. Please sign and return.
On Tuesday (10/27), FCA meets at 7:30 a.m. and our first Art Club meets until 4:30 p.m. with Mrs. Hartley.
On Wednesday (10/28), Chess Club meets until 3:30 p.m., and our House Leaders will take a Mission & Mindset field trip to ECSU--students attending were required to pay $15 for the trip.
On Thursday (10/29), join us for Skate & Scare at Extreme Action Park from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance. No tickets can be purchased at the door. Skate rental is $4 paid at the door. Wear your costume!
On Friday (10/30), it’s an Altruismo Takeover Day—wear BLACK! Our CMS Haunted Hallway will also be open during recess for $5 per entry, with tickets available in advance or at the door. No costumes are allowed on this day.
Don’t forget that students are required to complete all iReady expectations by Friday each week. 2 lessons in reading and 2 lessons in math must be passed for the weekly grade. Students are also expected to complete at least 8 units in Lexia--this may vary by ELA teacher so please make sure you check with your child’s ELA teacher. Students are given ample time during the week to complete these requirements--remind them to use time wisely!

Monday, 10/26: Girls Basketball Tryouts — until 4:00 p.m., a valid physical is required for tryouts.
Tuesday, 10/27: Girls Basketball Tryouts — until 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 10/27: Cross Country @ Boyd Lee — 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, 10/28: Football HOME vs Pamlico — 5:00 p.m.
Finally, our most recent student climate survey indicated that our students feel tired and sleepy when they come to school each day. Please help at home to make sure your scholar gets a good night’s sleep and comes well rested and ready to learn.
