Drivers on Scenic Highway may encounter intermittent lane closures, from south of I-10 to south of Hyde Park Road, Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Thursday, Sept. 10, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., for paving operations. Law enforcement will be on site, and traffic flaggers will direct drivers safely through the work zone.

The week of Sunday, Sept. 6, drivers on U.S. 90A may encounter the following traffic impacts:

▪ An updated configuration at the intersection of U.S. 90A and Field Creek Drive. A new inside turn lane and directional median crossover is now open to traffic, permitting only U.S. 90A eastbound left turn movements to access Field Creek Drive.

▪ Intermittent lane closures, between Western Way Drive and Tower Ridge Road, for paving operations.

Labor Day weekend is a popular time for cookouts, celebrations and spending time with family and friends. If those plans include alcohol, make sure getting home safely is part of the plan.

Before heading out, arrange for a sober driver, use a rideshare service or plan to stay where you are celebrating. Driving impaired puts everyone on the road at risk.

The Florida Legislature designated the first week of September each year as Drowsy Driving Prevention Week to raise awareness about the dangers of driving while drowsy.

Fatigue can slow reaction time, affect judgment and make it difficult to stay alert on the road. Frequent yawning, heavy eyelids or difficulty focusing can be signs that it is time to stop and rest.

FDOT maintains rest areas, service stations and welcome centers throughout Florida where motorists can stop and take a break.
