🚨 SCAM ALERT – Chipley Residents – Please Read & Share!🚨

The Chipley Police Department has received reports of a phone scam targeting our community. Scammers are calling people, claiming to be from our department (or using spoofed numbers that appear local), and stating that you have an outstanding warrant for your arrest.

They then demand immediate payment (often via gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or other untraceable methods) to "resolve" the warrant and prevent arrest.

This is 100% FALSE and a scam!

- We will NEVER call you to inform you of an active warrant over the phone.
- We will NEVER ask for money, gift cards, payments, or personal financial information to clear any warrant or avoid arrest.
- Legitimate law enforcement contacts are made in person or through official channels — never by demanding payment over the phone.

If you receive one of these calls:
- Hang up immediately.
- Do NOT provide any personal information or money.
- Report the call to us at (850) 638-6310.

Please help protect your neighbors — share this post and warn friends/family, especially elderly residents who are often targeted.

If you have questions or believe you've been contacted by these scammers, contact the Chipley Police Department directly.

🌟 Chipley Police Department – Working Hard Every Day for YOU! 🌟

To our amazing Chipley community:

Behind the scenes and out on the streets, your Chipley Police Department officers and staff put in the work every single day to keep our city safe, respond quickly to your needs, and build a stronger, more secure place for all of us. We’re proud of the dedication our team shows 24/7—whether it’s answering calls, investigating cases, conducting traffic enforcement, or making arrests to remove threats from our neighborhoods.

As spring break ramps up, we’re seeing more out-of-town travelers passing through our area on their way to the beaches and beyond. That means increased traffic on our roads, and we’re staying extra diligent to ensure everyone travels safely. Our officers are out there proactively addressing speed, reckless driving, impaired operation, and other hazards so families can enjoy the season without incident.

Here’s a quick look at what we’ve accomplished so far this year (through early March):

1,998 Calls for Service
28 Traffic Crashes Investigated
48 Arrests
30 Drug-Related Cases
1,199 Traffic Warnings Issued
98 Traffic Citations

Beyond the streets, we're continuously investing in advanced and ongoing training to keep our team at the top of their game:

• Regular Close Quarters Battle (CQB) drills to sharpen tactical response in high-risk situations
• Maintaining certification or recertification in CPR for immediate life-saving response
• Hands-on Stop the Bleed training to control severe bleeding and save lives in emergencies
• Regular real-life scenarios that create opportunities for practical training on de-escalation techniques—helping officers resolve situations calmly, safely, and effectively whenever possible.

This well-rounded approach ensures we're prepared for anything—from routine calls to critical incidents—while prioritizing community safety, communication, and positive outcomes.

Thank you for your support, for calling us when something seems off, and for driving responsibly amid the extra traffic. We're here when you need us—together, we keep Chipley strong and safe! 💙🚔

Stay safe out there! 🚔

Earlier, we reported the arrest of Laderious Pittman following a theft at Shoe Depot. Here's the body cam footage of what happened next—a foot pursuit that ended exactly as it should.

Meet Laderious Pittman... and meet Officer White closing the distance. Turns out, determination and training outrun bad decisions every time.

At the time of his arrest, Pittman was on probation after serving a 10-year prison sentence for Manslaughter by Culpable Negligence and Attempted Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.

Our officers don't just respond—they protect this community with skill, speed, and zero tolerance for those who think they can run from justice.

We remain committed to keeping Chipley safe. Thank you for your continued support.

Chipley Police Department Update:

Our officers had a very busy weekend keeping our community safe!

Over the weekend, proactive traffic stops and quick responses led to multiple arrests involving drugs, fi****ms, warrants, and theft:

A traffic stop on Highway 90 resulted in our K-9 alerting to narcotics. Officers located methamphetamine on an occupant. Dequario White was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

A traffic stop at Highway 90 and 7th Street, Quinell McGhee was arrested on active Washington County warrants, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, and firearm on school property. A loaded G***k 9mm pistol was recovered from the vehicle.

Officers responded to a theft at Shoe Depot. The suspect fled on foot, leading to a lengthy pursuit. Ladarious Pittman was captured and arrested for misdemeanor theft, obstruction without violence, and threats of death or serious bodily harm to a law enforcement officer.

Traffic stop on Highway 77, the driver was found to be a habitual offender with a suspended license, and the passenger had an active warrant. Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and two fi****ms (one stolen from Bay County) were located in the vehicle. Driver Joseph Masey was charged with driving while license suspended (habitual), possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, destroying/concealing evidence, and possession of a firearm during a felony. Passenger Sheena Masey was arrested on the Washington County warrant.

Traffic stop on Church Avenue, driver Darrell Powell was found with a suspended license. A search of the vehicle uncovered over one pound of ma*****na. Powell was arrested for possession of ma*****na over 20 grams.

These arrests highlight the hard work and dedication of our officers in removing drugs, illegal fi****ms, and dangerous individuals from our streets.

Thank you to our community for your continued support. If you see something, say something—tips can be reported anonymously to (850) 638-6310.

Stay safe, Chipley!

🚔 A Special Visitor Stopped By the Chipley Police Department Today!🚔

Guess who dropped in for a visit this morning? None other than the Grinch himself! 😏

He stopped by headquarters, looked us in the eye, and solemnly swore he’s NOT handing out any onions this year. (We’re holding him to it!)

If that green guy starts causing any holiday mischief around Chipley—whooshing gifts, grumpy faces, or anything that threatens your Christmas cheer—please give us a call right away. We’ll be on Grinch Patrol 24/7!🎄❤️

🚔 Chipley Police Department 🚔

It’s that time of year again! 🦃 Thanksgiving is in the rearview mirror, and 🎄 Christmas is coming in hot!

A huge THANK YOU to Deb for volunteering her time today and turning our office into a winter wonderland — it looks amazing! ❤️

Now… we have one tiny problem.
We’re proud to host a Toys for Tots donation box in our lobby, but right now it’s looking a little… empty. 😬

They will be picking it up very soon, and we’d LOVE to send it off absolutely OVERFLOWING with new, unwrapped toys for local kids who might not otherwise have a gift to open on Christmas morning.

If you’re out doing your holiday shopping, please consider grabbing one extra toy and dropping it off at the Chipley PD lobby (open Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm). Every single donation makes a huge difference!

Let’s fill this box to the brim and make this holiday season brighter for our community’s children. 🎁

Thank you, Chipley — we’re so grateful for your generosity!
