AB 1768 makes it easier for local governments to raise sales taxes beyond current limits, increasing costs for consumers at a time when families are already struggling. Too often, voters are promised that new taxes will fund specific priorities, only to see the money redirected elsewhere. Higher taxes are not the answer to our affordability crisis.

Today, California Nonprofits Day is being celebrated across the state. It is my privilege to select Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center as the 2026 32nd Senate District Nonprofit of the Year.

Michelle's Place is a full-service cancer resource center located in Temecula that serves more than 6,000 cancer patients and their families annually. Their mission is to empower individuals and their families impacted by cancer through education and support services. By providing resources that address both the practical and emotional challenges of a cancer diagnosis, they serve as a vital bridge between medical treatment and community care.

Michelle’s Place has become a lifeline for thousands of individuals and families facing one of life’s most difficult challenges. Their commitment to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone has made a profound difference throughout Southwest Riverside County and beyond.

Through compassion, education, and support, Michelle’s Place embodies the spirit of service and community that makes the 32nd Senate District so special. I am honored to recognize them as our 2026 Nonprofit of the Year.
