Statewide Burn Ban Reminder:

A statewide burn ban remains in effect across North Carolina. All open burning is prohibited until further notice.

Fire departments across the county, along with the North Carolina Forest Service, have responded to numerous illegal burn incidents in recent days.

At the time of this post, crews are actively working two separate illegal burns. The Forest Service is en route to meet with the homeowners involved.

Violations of the burn ban can result in fines and additional penalties. Residents are urged to comply and avoid any outdoor burning.

PS: Your neighbors will call in and report it. Especially, that one you don’t get along with.

Today we laid to rest former Enochville member, retired Atwell fireman, and current Mt. Mitchell Fireman, Jason Barron. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Barron family! Rest in Peace Brother!

Early this morning around 00:13 hours, Station 49 along with several mutual aid departments were dispatched to a possible structure fire off Orchard Ave.
Upon E491 arrival in the area a working fire upgrade was given. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported. Thanks to our neighboring departments for the quick response and help.

🔥 Rowan County and Statewide Burn Ban in Effect 🔥

Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning, effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 21, until further notice. In addition, the Rowan County Fire Marshal’s Office has extended this ban to include all fires within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling.

💨 Dry conditions are increasing wildfire risks, making it critical for everyone to follow these restrictions.

🚫 What this means:
✅ No open burning anywhere in Rowan County
✅ No new burn permits will be issued
✅ Violators face fines of $100 + $183 in court costs
✅ You may also be held responsible for fire suppression costs

Welcome our new 3000 Gallon Tanker to its home. It is officially in service after crews spent today transferring and placing all equipment and hoses.
Tanker 494 is ready to serve the Enochville community!

Tonight the Enochville Community has a new fire chief. Gentry Nesbitt has been elected to replace Taylor Barnes who has wonderfully served for the past 4 years. Chief Nesbitt has great plans to keep the department serving the community strong. Chief Nesbitt we fully support you!
