Good Morning. I apologize for not being able to participate in this group for some time now. I have been doing a lot of hard work with being back home. It's been four years and it's not like it was when I left in 2014. I have been catching up on all that has happened while I was away; all the news media and everything involved with our tribes. I also have done my research and took down some footnotes on other tribes around the United States... That will not be until later in a documentary I am working on and it's not ready yet. I'm in the process of finalizing the editing. On the latter side, I just want everyone to know that I am here still and I am now more attentive today. Thank you πŸ™

Marker trees Of the indigenous peoples

You won't find much on Marker trees beside the apparent Trail markers on the internet.

The Original people have been using trees to mark significant events in their life for millennia. These become sacred events they share with their family, Often from generation to generation.

The Klamath People having such a large area covered in the natural forest, used many trees for different reasons and occasions.

Trees marked trails by simply bending a small Pine in a proper direction. They also May indicate a food source or a good camping ground. These are often marked with the pruned Pine to grow tall and fast. Similar tall Pines are pruned on top hills in line of sight to keep direction or location.

Then there are the particular trees, Created for personal reasons. Such as a first kiss, too sharing the first night with a loved one, a first child, or a second or third child was Usually pronounced by splicing a young sapling to mark each birth.
You may find some with five or more splicing becoming a live family tree on the top of a tall old growth Redwood, the tree of choice by many. But Pines and Aspens are also commonly used.

The young hunter may mark their first kill. His first test of Manhood…

Then there are the somber, sad reminders of the death of a loved one. These trees may be transplanted in the area where their next Journey begins, often pruned in for years in many ways to mark the significance of their life.

Heya! 😊 I apologize for the absence on here... I have been busy with my business and sanity..... I made it out of it πŸ™‚ I have also been catching up on recent news... I congrats to the new Chairman and all those on tribal council... I hope that we can get some issues resolved on our water. Being mindful and aware of this not just here at home it's all around the world.... I have crammed my head with the history of how all the tribes in the world has survived then and how much our Ancestors suffered... It's like I want to be angry and just want to blame the white blood...... I have to admit that I did blame them then I thought, "it will never end will it?"..... We are United States of America..... I am a human being that want closure. No apologies, no excuses, no funds I get already, I just want the truth to be told and to be validated and acknowledged by the government. So many Indians have died... For what? I don't hate like I used to about this stuff. I don't take things to heart or personal and seek revenge of destruction and hate. I have a better idea of handling it today... We are still here!!! Be a voice to those who cannot and break the genocide. It starts with prayers and my faith to put forth a different aspects of how can I be a part of the solution? To quit being the problem!?

Partnering with Indigenous People and Local Communities

Lasting conservation must actively involve people and partners linked to the natural systems we seek to protect, and their voices must be at the center of what we do.
