🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE: ELECTRICAL CONTACT EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING 🚨 This training event is for local utility employees and EMS response personnel only.

At the request of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative, we’re sharing information about an upcoming mock emergency training event taking place in our community.

The Critical Connection: Electrical Contact Emergency Response Training will bring together first responders, utility personnel, and industry partners for a mock emergency event focused on responding safely and effectively to electrical contact emergencies.

🕙 Demonstration begins at 10:00 AM

⚠️ Please note: This is a planned training exercise, not a real emergency.

If you see emergency vehicles, first responders, utility personnel, or other emergency activity in the area that morning, there is no need for concern. The exercise is being conducted in a controlled setting to help participating agencies and personnel strengthen their coordination, communication, and response procedures.

The goal is simple: Training today to be prepared for tomorrow!

Please also be aware that the event is weather dependent, and updates will be communicated as needed in the event of inclement weather.

At 553 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Cameron to near Kingston to 6 miles northeast of Lawson, moving east at 45 mph.

This Storm may impact Cameron, Hamilton, Braymer, Polo, Breckenridge, Kingston, Utica, Cowgill, Kidder, Bogard, Ludlow, Mooresville, Lock Springs, Elmira, Knoxville, Dawn, And Stet. with 0.75" hail and 60mph wind gusts

Attention Liberty gas customers in Chillicothe, Missouri, and surrounding area:
We experienced an equipment issue that resulted in an over-odorization of our natural gas system serving the Chillicothe, Missouri area. Excess Mercaptan, a harmless chemical that is added to natural gas to give it an odor, was released into our pipes. The equipment has been repaired, but it will take some time for the odor to dissipate. If customers are concerned they may have a gas leak, they should always call our emergency number at 1-800-406-9220.
We have had multiple calls regarding the smell, and our crews are responding. See less
