Some stories don’t end in a classroom. 🇺🇸
Our Voices of Freedom students recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to ensure the voices of local veterans are preserved where history is kept.
Six students — Makenzie Hoffman, Laila Hoffman, Adreannalyn Payne, Abigail Palumbo, Austin Bartchy, and Paisley Welsh — joined instructor Ms. McCaulla and Ms. Widdig to deliver 37 completed interviews with veterans to the Library of Congress as part of the Veterans History Project.
From the U.S. Capitol and Smithsonian museums to national memorials across the city, students experienced the places where America’s story is told and remembered.
They also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and took part in a guided remembrance at the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.
41 veterans interviewed. 37 stories preserved. One powerful mission: never let these voices be forgotten.
