You can request your absentee ballot for the November 3rd general election right now. Fill it out at home on your own schedule, mail it back or drop it off at the Ross County Board of Elections, and you're done. No lines, no scheduling conflicts, no worrying about Election Day logistics. It's the easiest vote you'll ever cast.

Go to rosscodems.org/voting-info to request yours today. Just make sure your registration is current first, especially if you've moved since the last time you voted. The voter registration deadline for November is October 5th. With Sherrod Brown and Amy Acton both in races that could come down to a few thousand votes statewide, every single ballot cast in Ross County matters. Handle yours this week and then help someone else handle theirs. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Here's the simplest way to understand the Ohio Senate race. Sherrod Brown has spent his career capping insulin costs for Medicare recipients, securing Social Security payments for retired teachers and firefighters who had been shortchanged for years, fighting unfair trade deals that cost Ohio manufacturing jobs, and getting healthcare for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits who were being turned away by the VA. Jon Husted has spent his time in the Senate voting for the Medicaid cuts that put Adena Health on a federal at-risk list, voting for SNAP cuts that will hit hundreds of thousands of Ohio families, and calling himself Donald Trump's "firewall" against impeachment.

A Fox News poll (not exactly a liberal outlet) has Brown leading Husted by 8 points, 53 to 45. Voters are seeing this contrast clearly. Husted was handed a seat he never won and has used it to serve a national agenda that has hurt the people of Ohio. Sherrod Brown is running specifically to take that seat back and use it the way it's supposed to be used. The voter registration deadline is October 5th. Go to rosscodems.org/voting-info and make sure you're ready. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

When it comes to Ohio's schools, the choice between Amy Acton and Vivek Ramaswamy is about as clear as it gets. Acton wants to fully fund public education under the Fair School Funding Plan. A plan the Republican-controlled legislature was legally mandated to fund by $3.04 billion, but delivered only $281.9 million toward. Ramaswamy has suggested closing universities he deems "subpar," including Akron, Kent State, and Cleveland State, to help pay for eliminating the state income tax. After the bipartisan backlash was swift and fierce, he walked it back. On healthcare, Acton has pledged to protect and expand Medicaid access. Ramaswamy has previously called Medicare and Medicaid "mistakes" and said he wanted to dismantle them.

On the economy, both candidates say they want to lower costs, but their approaches reveal who they're actually fighting for. Acton's plan includes child tax credits, a prescription drug savings platform, and medical debt relief purchased at pennies on the dollar. The same model Illinois has already used successfully. Ramaswamy's plan involves eliminating the income tax, a proposal that would primarily benefit the wealthy, while cutting university programs and expanding fracking. One of these candidates grew up poor in Youngstown and has spent her career fighting for working families. The other moved his company to Texas. Ohio gets to decide on November 3rd. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Vivek Ramaswamy has spent nearly $700,000 leasing private jets since his campaign began. That includes roughly $560,000 paid to a company called V Leasing LLC, which is registered at a house Ramaswamy owns! In other words, he may be using campaign donor money to pay himself for his own jet. Ethics watchdog Jordan Libowitz of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington flagged the arrangement as one that could let Ramaswamy pocket donor funds through his own leasing company. Ramaswamy's campaign did not respond to multiple questions about it. He also refuses to itemize $509,000 in credit card spending, which campaign finance experts say violates Ohio law. The GOP-led Secretary of State's office has not enforced it. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This is the man who wants to talk to you about fiscal responsibility and fighting corruption. He told a Youngstown news station in May "I love long drives" and "I'm a nature guy." Right around the time he was flying his private jet to Salt Lake City for a data center conference. Meanwhile, Amy Acton campaigns in a Jeep. The contrast between these two candidates could not be more literal.

Vote for Amy Acton in November. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The Ross County Democratic Club will be canvassing every Saturday and Sunday between now and Election Day. And we want YOU out there with us. Door-to-door canvassing is the single most effective thing we can do between now and November 3rd. More effective than ads, more effective than mailers, more effective than phone calls. Real conversations between real neighbors are what move voters.

You don't need any experience. We'll train you, give you a list of the best doors to knock on, and set you up for success. It's also a lot more fun with a buddy, so grab a friend, a spouse, a coworker, anyone who wants to make a difference, and come on out together! Every door we knock on brings us one step closer to sending Dr. Amy Acton to the Governor's office and Sherrod Brown back to the Senate. Come join us and let's get to work for Ross County!
