This evening at the Smyth County Board of Supervisors meeting and again at the Chilhowie Town Council meeting, Smyth County Commonwealth's Attorney Phillip Blevins commended Master Police Officer Gage Prater, along with members of the Smyth and Washington County Sheriff's Offices with meritorious service for an incident involving a subject with a weapon. Also at the Chilhowie Council meeting, he commended Deputy Chief Aaron Smith for his actions at the scene of a tragic fatal motor vehicle crash. His assistance resulted in a conviction of the at fault driver of involuntary manslaughter. Congratulations to both of these dedicated officers for a job well done!
