WELCOME To the CHILHOWEE WATER DEPT.
The City of Chilhowee purchases water from Johnson County Public Water Supply District #2 and contracts with People Service to manage the water & sewer for the city. They repair leaks on the city’s side of the meters, read the meters, replace meters, check water quality & sewer containments regularly & test an file all the necessary reports to keep the city compliant with the rules & regulations of the Department of Natural Resources.
Here is a list of things to know.
DEPOSITS
To get water turned you must fill out an application as part of that application you must provide:
• Your Driver’s License
• Your Social Security Number.
• Do you rent or own (If you own you may be ask to provide a notarized bill of sale.)
• Provide Landlord’s name & phone number
• Renters must pay a $150.00 deposit
• Owners must pay a $100.00 deposit
• A nonrefundable $15.00 Connection Fee is due at time of deposit.
METER READINGS & PAYMENT DUE DATES
Meters are read on the 15th of each month and are mailed by the 20th.
• Bills are due the 1st of each month
• If payment is made between the 2nd - 14th a $10.00 late fee is added to balance due.
• Water Shutoffs are made on the 15th of the month.
• A $50.00 re-connect fee will be added to balance due. The entire amount must be paid before water is restored.
• Water reconnections will be made on Wednesdays and Fridays.
• You may be asked for an additional deposit if your water is turned off more than once.
PAYMENTS
• Payments are accepted with cash, check, money order, credit or debit card and be mailed or dropped in the slot at City Hall. If payment is with cash and you want a receipt come by the office at City Hall usually between 9:00 a.m. & 3;00 p.m. and will be happy to give you one.
• To pay with credit or debt card: Go online to missouripayments.com. Click on drop down box and scroll down to Chilhowee. Click and fill out requested information. After information has been verified and approved you will be sent a receipt by email. (THERE IS A TRANSACTION FEE TO USE THIS SERVICE.)
RETURNED CHECKS
• There is a $8.00 charge each time is returned by the bank for insufficient funds.
• There is $30.00 insufficient funds fee for any returned checks.
• Your ability to pay your bill by check may be suspended.
LEAKS
If you have a water leak & it is on your side of the meter It is your responsibility to get it repaired. The city cannot repair leaks on your side of the meter, If you think the leak is on the city’s side call City Hall @ 660 – 678 -3738
