In remembrance of September 8, 2020, six years ago, we extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by the devastating Bear Fire. later designated as the North Complex West Fire. We remember the 16 lives lost, with over 100 injured. The families forever changed, and the countless people who lost their homes, animals, and sense of security.

Today, we honor the strength of the communities, first responders, volunteers, and neighbors who came together in the face of unimaginable loss. and may we continue to support one another as we remember one of the darkest days in our County's history.

What is a Lilypad? Simply, a mobile trailer used to split the distance between the disaster location and the available pet shelter, thus allowing evacuation teams to remain on the scene while other volunteers transport rescued pets to the shelter - transport efficiency.

On National Dog Day, the North Valley Animal Disaster Group is celebrating some very special members of our extended family—the dogs who belong to our dedicated disaster volunteers.

Our volunteers spend countless hours training, preparing, and responding when animals and their families need help most. During disasters, they provide food, water, shelter, comfort, and compassionate care to frightened animals.

But when the workday is over, many of those same volunteers return home to their own four-legged family members.

Today, we proudly celebrate the dogs who share our volunteers’ lives and, in their own special way, support the people who support our community.

Happy National Dog Day to all the wonderful dogs behind our amazing NVADG volunteers! 🐾❤️

At North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG), we believe no one should have to choose between their own safety and the life of a beloved companion. Through preparedness, training, evacuation, and emergency sheltering, we help keep people and their pets together when it matters most. Because protecting animals also strengthens families and communities.
