So many young people experience homelessness for reasons that are often invisible from family conflict, aging out of foster care, unsafe living conditions, loss of income, or simply not having someone to turn to. No one chooses this path, and no one should walk it alone.

• Family conflict or unsafe homes
• Aging out of foster care
• Losing housing or income
• No safe adults to rely on
• Domestic violence or trauma
• Discrimination or identity-based rejection

At 6th Street, you deserve safety, support, and a space where you’re met with respect, not judgment.
If you’re couch surfing, staying somewhere unsafe, or unsure what’s next, we’re here.

❤️ You belong here.
🧡 You deserve stability.
💛 You deserve support.

You’re not alone and your story matters!

No matter what the reason… you deserve support. You deserve safety.

6th Street is here for you!

On March 20th, 6pm - 8pm at Stonewall Chico, we'll be presenting an in-house workshop on the process of changing your name and gender marker on legal documents, records, and identification. In addition, we'll help you understand how to apply for a fee waiver - which most folks who need get - so that it's entirely free. This workshop is free as always, and all are welcome!

Hey folks, we have some really good news for our guests. With the recent rain and abrupt drop in temperature, as well as the recent pause in services at our office, Pastor Jesse at has graciously allowed us stay at our current shelter until noon each day. This means our guests get an extra 6 hours a day to rest, stay warm, and out of the elements. This change is in effect for the remainder of our shelter season. We’re on day three of this new shelter schedule and our guests have been so grateful for the rest, safety, and security.

However, with this extra 6 hours at the church each day comes extra expenses and volunteer needs. Here is how you can help:

💓Volunteer for our new midday volunteer position from 11-1 (our morning volunteer position still exists, but looks a little different now and starts a little later). Sign up link in our bio or here 👉 https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F45ACAF2FA5FAC25-59940439-safe #/

💵 Donate to us directly via the link in our bio or our Venmo

🎶 Come to our benefit show tonight at ! Proceeds will go directly to the shelter!

🩷All of us at Safe Space are so thankful for this amazing community who continues to show up for us, we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you!

We are beyond proud of the incredible young people at 6th Street who have recently taken huge steps forward!

Securing safe housing and enrolling in school.

These are more than milestones… they’re acts of courage, determination, and hope.

Every day, we get to witness their strength, their resilience, and their drive to create a better future for themselves. And today, we celebrate them. 💛

To our youth:
You inspire us.
You remind us why we show up.
And we are so excited to walk alongside you as you continue building a future filled with possibilities.
Here’s to new beginnings, new opportunities, and the bright futures ahead. 🌈✨
